It's time to shape up with recent improvements in equipment at the LCC Wellness Center.
The fitness center now features the addition of five new elliptical trainers and four new treadmills.
In the past, there was only one TV that individuals had to watch while working out on the treadmills.
“Now, everyone gets to watch whatever they want because the new equipment that we now have, has their own individual TV screens,” said Heather Tifft, LCC Fitness Center director. “We have some of the best equipment Southeast Colorado has to offer.”
Besides the addition of the new equipment, the LCC facility includes:
Free weights up to 25 pounds.
Eleven weight machines.
Eleven stationary bikes.
1/11 mile walking track.
Tifft said that group fitness classes are offered.
Muscular strength and range of motion classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and taught by Tifft.
NIA classes are held on Thursdays at 6 p.m. and instructed by Jeanie Cooper.
Tifft noted that Colorado has the lowest obesity rate in the nation, but Prowers County has the highest obesity rate in the state.
“The LCC Fitness Center is committed to the health and wellness of the community and the area,” she said. “We hope that people will take advantage of the amenitites that the fitness center has to offer.”
Summer hours at the fitness center until August 15 are as follows:
Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.
Friday from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Anyone interested in the programs offered at the LCC Fitness Center can contact Heather Tifft at 336-1672 or heather.tifft@lamarcc.edu.
