The Lamar Police Department responded to a silent panic alarm at the A & B Liquor Store, located at 804 East Olive Friday night. Upon their arrival on scene a white male suspect was seen running from the business toward the Ranchers Supply lot across the street from the liquor store. The Lamar Police Department immediately established a perimeter around the location and called for the Lamar Police K-9 unit to track the suspect.

When the K-9 unit entered the perimeter, the male suspect attempted to run on foot and was quickly apprehended without further incident or injury. The subject was later identified as Randy Crabill, 44, of Lamar.

Lamar Police detectives conducted a subsequent investigation and learned that Crabill entered the store around 7 p.m. and approached the counter as if to make a purchase. The clerk stated that she thought that Crabill appeared to “high on something.” Crabill then grabbed the stores credit card machine and attempted to run out of the business. Crabill was unable to exit the store due to the cords attached to the machine. Crabill then turned and tried to take another customers beer. The clerk and the customer grabbed the beer back from Crabill and it was at this time that Crabill threatened the clerk with serious bodily injury. The clerk, in fear of her safety, ran to the stores cooler and pushed the panic alarm. Crabill then ran from the store and was apprehended by the Lamar Police.

Crabill was charged with Robbery and Criminal attempt to commit robbery and is currently being held at the Prowers County Jail.

Great job there Lamar Police Dept. You really should have let your K-9 TAKE A BITE OUT OF CRIME.

alas, a little nip to the buttocks would have made Randy stop and think the next time he tried to pull a heist in Lamar. Keep up the great work folks.

Hats off to the Chief and I also think the officer at the high school is a great idea. wireless guy.

Way to go LPD!! Go get those bad guys. Let's just hope others are watching and decide to leave our area and move on down the road. Or better yet try the same thing and get caught! Great Job LPD!!!

You will find that with less well paying jobs and more illegal aliens in the area that more and more young citizens will fall into the ways of crime and drugs because they gave up on trying to get by on meager wages and not having a future of looking forward to home ownership and all those things that keep the rest of us out of trouble. Randy is a good young man at heart and has remained a friend of mine since high school. I am saddened to see what has become of him as I haven't seen him since '03 when I took my family on an rv trip back home from Maine. If I hadn't left Lamar when I did I would probably be right where he is! Randy has always had a wild streak (probably inherited!) but was doing really well when he worked himself ragged for the city of Lamar water department. Randy will always remain a friend of mine and I thank my stars that I finally got out of that situation and away from that desert town that sucks the life out of people! I do miss Lamar and it will always be home to me but is no place to seek a future! Many of those who don't leave usually end up like Randy or worse. Randy keep your head up, leave that town as soon as you can and look for better opportunities elsewhere!
