TINMAN TRIATHLON

The Lamar Recreation Department will host their annul Lamar Tinman Triathlon on Saturday, August 23 at 7 a.m.

Those interested are asked to register by Wednesday, August 20, but registrations will be taken the day of the race.

The fee is $12 for adults and $6 for children which inlcuded a T-shirt.

The Kid’s Triathlon will include one trip down the Lamar Swimming Pool slide, two laps on a bike around Willow Creek Park, run or walk one lap around the park; and another trip down the slide.

The Tinman Triathlon will include a 500 meter swim (20 laps), 15 mile bike ride, and 3.2 mile (5K) run.

The Team Triathlon (2 or 3 person teams) will include one person for run, bike, and swim.

Helmets are required for the bike race and loaners will be availabe. After the race festivities will include a picnic and free swimming. Please bring a covered dish.

YOUTH SOCCER

The Youth Soccer Program will be held on Saturdays from September 13 through October 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m at Escondido Park and Jim Earl Field.

Age divisions will include pre-school and kindergarten; 1st and 2nd grades, and 3rd through 5th grades.

The fee is $20 which includes a T-shirt.

Registration deadline is Friday, August 22. After August 22 add $5.00.

A coach’s meeting will be held on Thursday, August 28 at 6 p.m. at the Lamar Community Building. Team assignments will be issued at the coach’s meeting. Coaches will signup for practice times during the weekdays.

This league is designed to get young kids outside and have a good time kicking the ball around with their friends. They will also learn the fascinating game of soccer.

5TH AND 6TH GRADE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The 5th and 6th Grade Girls Volleyball Program will be held on Saturdays from September 20 through October 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m at the Lamar Community Building.

The fee is $20 which includes a T-shirt.

Registration deadline is Friday, August 29. After August 29 add $5.

A coach’s meeting will be held on Thursday, September 4 at 6 p.m. at the Lamar Community Building. Coaches will set practices on weekdays.

This program is designed to introduce basic skills and fundamentals to the young volleyball player as well as promoting good sportsmanship. Get a head start on your volleyball game.

3RD AND 4TH GRADE FLAG FOOTBALL

The 3rd and 4th Grade Flag Football will be held on Saturdays from October 4 through November 8 starting at 12:30 p.m. at McCorkle Field.

The fee is $20 which includes a T-shirt.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 24. The fee after September 24 will be $25.

A mandatory coach’s meeting will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 6 p.m. at the Lamar Community Building.

Come join the fun of playing flag football. This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of football and to get players ready for the next level. Players will be placed on teams and called by coaches for practices.
