At a short ceremony held Monday afternoon, Lamar Police Officer Jedidiah Jenkins was awarded with a plaque that will be hung in the police department lobby.

Jenkins was nominated by Sergeant J.L. Bennett. The Sergeant stated that:

“It is with great pleasure that I nominate Officer Jedidiah Jenkins for Officer of the Month.

Officer Jenkins has shown himself to be an extremely valuable member to both my team and the Lamar Police Department. Officer Jenkins is a leader on my team and also leads among other members of the Department. Officer Jenkins was recently selected to attend SWAT training and was chosen by his other Special Response Team members to be their Team Leader.

Officer Jenkins has shown a dedication and passion for the job. He has the drive and self motivation to propel him to a long and successful career with the Lamar Police Department.

With very little training Officer Jenkins has stepped up to the plate and taken over watch commander duties when I or my back up watch commander was not available and has done an admirable job in the process.

Officer Jenkins portrays to the letter the values of the Lamar Police Department and I am proud and fortunate to have him as a member of my team,” stated Sergeant J.L. Bennett.
