WILEY—Longtime Wiley School Elementary Principal Curtis Turner has turned in his resignation to the board of education.
In a discussion with The Lamar Ledger, Turner said the reasons for his departure include the amount of work he is willing to take on, along with the stress of the workload of being a K-12 principal. In addition, he said the compensation was a bit low. “There was a lack of respect in the way the board handled the situation,” said Turner. “Sometimes you have to take a stand,” commented the former principal.
He said the board of education was informed of his decision through the Superintendent of Schools, Randy Holmen. Turner will stay on for the next two weeks, while the school seeks a new principal.
“I always felt strongly supported by the community and I appreciate them. The kids are great and I will miss them and I feel we have an outstanding school,” said Turner.
Turner further commented that he needed to spend more time with the music ministry he is involved in.

Curtis you will be missed. I believe things were misshandled and was done unfairly. Good for you for taking a stand and doing what is right for you and your family. God be with you in whatever He has planned for you.

After having two kids go to school with you as their principal, I know you will be terribly missed by students, faculty, and parents. Good luck with your future plans.
And good ridance to the morons on the wiley school board who again thought of their pride before the students.
