Lamar High School softball standout Taryn Woodward signed a letter-of-intent to continue her playing and academic career at Lamar Community College. Woodward was a three-year starter in left field for the Lady Savages. She carried a .441 batting average as a junior and batted .417 her senior season. Woodward tied the school softball records for doubles and triples. She was recognized as the student athlete of the season her junior year. Woodward also earned all-league and all-state honors. “I’m excited to continue on with my softball career at LCC,” she said. “I hope that I can continue to improve and raise my level of competiveness while playing for the ’Lopes. I believe that my passion for the sport will continue during my softball career and further me in my life.” Taryn is the daughter of Angela and Terry Woodward.

Great young lady, great person, great choice! I don't understand the parents being mentioned as we all know that her mother is one of LCC's downfalls. That is negative publicity that a young athlete cannot afford at a college level, especially in a small town.

With other "Woodward" families in town, it is nice to know which family they are from. How dare educator try to put a damper on the Woodward's family success by suggesting that the parents would damper her career by simply having thier name mentioned in the article. With out the support and help from this girl's parents, I doubt she would be where she is today.
