On May 13th, Farm Credit of Southern Colorado presented a check for $10,000 to the Prowers County Fair Board. The check will be used towards the final construction phase of the outdoor arena and livestock pavilion at the Sand and Sage fairgrounds in Lamar.

“Farm Credit is committed to investing in our local communities and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide this $10,000 donation to the Prowers County community,” said Steve Wertz, a Farm Credit board member from McClave.

Farm Credit of Southern Colorado is a member-owned cooperative that specializes in providing capital to agriculture and Rural America. “We are a unique organization because we operate as a cooperative, and we are committed to improving agriculture and life in rural Colorado” said Carlos Crane, vice chairman of the Farm Credit Board from Springfield.

Farm Credit is very active in supporting its local communities and has donated more than $40,000 to community projects during the last 3 years. Farm Credit also donated $25,000 to the Blizzard Relief Fund in 2007.

“Agriculture and the rural communities of Colorado are vital to our success as an organization and we want to do what we can to improve the viability of the communities we serve” said Gail Harvey, branch manager of the Lamar branch of Farm Credit.
